Car torn in half in Monday night crash
A driver was seriously injured after their car hit a pole and was torn in half in Northeast Portland on the night of Monday, Nov. 16.
The name of the driver was not immediately released.
According to police, the crash happened shortly before 10 p.m. Monday and closed Northeast Halsey Street between 122nd and 124th avenues. It reopened around 11:20 p.m.
Police say the car was torn apart after hitting a pole on Northeast Halsey Street near 122nd Avenue. The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
The Portland Police Bureau's East Precinct tweeted photos of the damaged car, whose engine and front wheel area were separated from the rest of the vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation. Police have not released additional information about its circumstances.
