Police have responded to 779 shootings so far this year compared to 393 in all of 2019.

The most recent shooting was reported early Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the same location as a shooting just 24 hours earlier.

The Tuesday shooting is the 779th reported to the PPB in 2020. Police responded to just 393 shootings all of last year.

According to police, at 4:20 a.m. Tuesday, East Precinct officers responded to the report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Southeast 136th Avenue. When officers arrived, they located evidence of gunfire. Eighteen bullet casings were recovered and two residences were discovered to have been hit by gunfire.

No victims were immediately located and no suspect information was immediately released.

The day before, at 4:18 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30, East Precinct officers responded to another report of a shooting in the 3800 block of Southeast 136th. When the officers arrived, they located evidence of gunfire. Over 25 casings were found, and a vehicle and residence were discovered to have been hit by gunfire.

A short time later, an adult male arrived at an area hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. It is unknown if the shooting and victim are related.

The name and condition of the victim was not immediately released. No suspect information was immediately released, either.
