PPB: Five wounded in four weekend shootings
Police are investigating at least four shootings that left five people wounded over the weekend.
None of the victims were immediately identified and no suspect information has been released, either. The shootings continue a surge that began in mid-2020 and is documented on a new website which tracks shootings in the city.
The website was unveiled by the Portland Police Bureau on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The string of shootings began Saturday afternoon, when North Precinct officers responded to a report of a person shot at North Interstate Avenue and North Going Street. Officers arrived and located a victim with a gunshot wound. Paramedics treated the patient, an adult male, and transported him to a hospital for treatment.
That shooting was followed by three others on Sunday, Jan. 10.
At about 3:30 a.m., a victim with a gunshot wound to his back walked into a hotel in the 1400 block of Southwest Naito Parkway, police said. The 32-year-old male told police he had been shot while in a car in the area of South River Drive and South Hall Street. He walked to an ambulance and was transported to a hospital.
Also on Sunday, a 65-year-old woman was shot in the foot in the 9300 block of North Wall Avenue. According to police, two male residents of the home saw two suspects outside the home attempting to steal their car at about 4:30 a.m. During a confrontation, one of the would-be robbers fired a gun at the residents. They were not hit, but one of the bullets penetrated the home and struck the woman inside.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Portland Police at 503-823-3333 and reference case #21-9101.
The most recent shooting occurred Sunday, Jan. 10, North Precinct officers responded to a shooting at a vigil in the 4500 block of Northeast 125th Place.
