UPDATE: Police identify the driver who died Sunday morning in Northwest Portland.

COURTRESY PPB - Scene of a crash in the 2700 block of Northwest Yeon Avenue.Police are investigating two weekend crashes, including a rollover where a driver was killed.

The deceased victim has been identified as Douglas Mark Rosling II, 40, of Portland.

The first investigation began just before 10 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, when officers were dispatched to the area of Southeast 170th Avenue and Southeast Haig Street on reports of shots fired. When they arrived, the officer discovered a car had crashed into a vacant travel trailer. Medical personnel determined the driver had been shot before crashing the vehicle.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he remained in critical condition, police said.

The second investigation began just after 7 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 7, when officers were dispatched to the 2700 block of Northwest Yeon Avenue on reports of a crash. When they arrived, the officers found an SUV on its side, resting against a warehouse. Officers said the lone occupant of the vehicle, an adult male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police closed off Northwest Yeon Avenue between Northwest Nicolai Street and Northwest 26th Drive during the early stages of the investigation.

The crash marked the traffic eighth fatality of the year. According to BikePortland, at this time last year, only five people had been killed in crashes in the city.
