The retailer, which is based in California, cites the pandemic and 'changes in the retail industry' as reasons for the closure.

VIA GOOGLE MAPS - Fry's Electronics in Wilsonville is closing for good.

Following many months of rumors about its imminent shuttering, Fry's Electronics announced that it is ending operations nationwide.

The electronics company had 31 stores across nine states, including a location in Wilsonville at 29400 Town Center Loop West.

"After nearly 36 years in business as the one-stop-shop and online resource for high-tech professionals across nine states and 31 stores, Fry's Electronics, Inc. ('Fry's' or 'Company'), has made the difficult decision to shut down its operations and close its business permanently as a result of changes in the retail industry and the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic," a statement on the Fry's website reads.

However, even before the pandemic, customers noticed increasingly bare shelves at the Wilsonville location and other stores. The store had said this was because it was converting suppliers to consignment, meaning it sold products for suppliers and received a cut of the sales. Staffing at the Wilsonville store, which was the only Fry's in Oregon, had also been reduced.

"The Company is in the process of reaching out to its customers with repairs and consignment vendors to help them understand what this will mean for them and the proposed next steps," the statement reads.

Other Wilsonville businesses that have closed during the pandemic include World of Speed and Wilsonville Lanes.
