A shooting that left one person dead at a Hillsboro hotel Tuesday morning is under investigation.

Police responded to a report of an assault with a weapon at the Springhill Suites Hotel at 7351 N.E. Butler St., about 1:30 a.m, according to a Hillsboro Police Department statement released Wednesday, March 3.

Officers discovered a person died after being shot, police said.

Sgt. Clint Chrz, spokesman for the Hillsboro Police Department, declined to comment Thursday morning on whether detectives had identified a suspect.

Investigators don't have information to believe the public is in danger, police said.

No other information has been released.

The case is being investigated by the Hillsboro Police Department and the Washington County Major Crimes Team.
