The Washington County Sheriff's Office said a rural property owner reported a 1997 Wells Cargo enclosed trailer he had been storing went missing overnight. He discovered it was gone on Thursday, March 11.

Among the items in the trailer was a 14-foot-long telescope valued at $15,000, the sheriff's office said. The telescope was custom-built, and the owner had reportedly been working on it for decades.

Another vintage Unitron telescope valued at $1,500 was also in the trailer when it went missing.COURTESY PHOTO: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - This 1997 Wells Cargo trailer with two valuable telescopes inside was reported missing Thursday, March 11, in the Laurelwood area.

The trailer is described 16 feet long and forest-green in color, with an aerodynamic bubble on the front and "Oregon Star Party" stickers on the ramp door. It has an Oregon license plate U227280.

The trailer was reported stolen from a property near the intersection of Southwest Bald Peak and Laurelwood roads, in a rural area east of Gaston and about a mile north of the Yamhill County line.

Anyone with information on the location of the trailer or the telescopes should call non-emergency dispatch at 503-629-0111 and reference case number 50-21-3408.
