No suspect in Gresham motel shooting that wounded four
Police still don't have a clear picture of what happened Thursday, March 18, during a Gresham motel shooting that left four victims injured and a suspect on the run in what is being described as an "extremely complex incident."
The names of the victims have not been released, though all were described as adults. Police are still attempting to interview them as they recover in the hospital.
Gresham police responded at 6 a.m. Thursday to the Golden Knight Motel in the 700 block of East Powell Boulevard after reports of gunfire. Four victims were shot and transported to the hospital — one remains in critical condition while two others have undergone surgeries.
As of Thursday afternoon, police said they believed the shooting began in a motel room and spilled out into the parking lot. One of the victims was found on a sidewalk down the road from the motel. There is no information or description on a suspect, and police are still unsure how many shooters were involved.
"Hard to say the relationship between the shooter and victims," said Gresham Officer Adam Baker during a Thursday press conference. "The shooter — or shooters — have not been taken into custody."
Police did elaborate that because the shooting began inside a room, they don't believe this was a random act of violence. Investigators are hoping witnesses come forward with information, and that speaking with the victims will shed light on the shooting.
