Suspect in shooting of homeless man arrested
Police have a arrested a suspect in the March 7 shooting of a homeless man in Southwest Portland.
Noah C. Smith, 34, is charged with attempted murder in the second degree, assault in the first degree, robbery in the first degree, unlawful use of a weapon (firearm), and felon in possession of a firearm.
Smith is suspected of shooting Christopher Barrett, 39, in a tent. He is hospitalized with wounds to his leg and abdomen.
The Oregonian also reported that Smith threatened a homeless woman who shared the tent with Barrett. Kim Lambright was shot and killed in the same part of Southwest Portland on March 28.
Police have not yet named Smith as a suspect in the killing.
Smith was arrested Wednesday, March 31, after police received a tip from the public.
