Sheriff: Two arrested in Troutdale armed carjacking
Early Thursday morning, April 1, an adult man was threatened and carjacked while in a Troutdale parking lot.
Around 6:39 a.m. Multnomah County Sheriff's patrol deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery and shots fired in the Motel 6 parking lot at 1610 N.W. Frontage Road. Deputies found evidence of gunfire, and the adult male victim who was uninjured.
The two suspects had threatened the victim, fired a shot, then stole a gray 2008 BMW 5 series sedan. Deputies located the BMW traveling westbound on Interstate 84 near Northeast 122nd Avenue.
Eventually the driver stopped near the area of Southeast 87th Avenue and Division Street. Portland Police also responded, and the two suspects were arrested.
Mahad Farah, 35, and Hung Cam Tat, 34, were both booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center. Farah faces a charge of first-degree robbery, and Tat is facing charges of first-degree robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and unlawful use of a weapon.
During the investigation law enforcement learned the suspects and victim knew each other prior to the carjacking.
