Portland Police Bureau officers say the body was recovered around 2 a.m. on Monday, April 5.

A call came in regarding a "dead body on the sidewalk" on Southwest Morrison Street at 20th Avenue around 1:40 a.m. on Monday, April 5, according to a news release.

Police say Portland Fire & Rescue were already on scene regarding a "fire-related issued" and were also alerted to the deceased person after someone flagged the firefighters down, police say.

Detectives and the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office continue to work the case and investigate the cause of death.
