The name of the victim was not immediately released.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, this is the 28th street fatality in the city in 2021. By this time last year, 17 people had been killed in street accidents.

The bureau said that, at around 1:38 p.m. on June 14, officers were on patrol in the East Columbia neighborhood on Northeast Marine Drive when they encountered a woman down in the street near Northeast 13th Avenue. Officers called for medical personnel, but the woman was deceased.

The Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team responded to investigate and determined this was a fatal hit and run.
