A series of free public events to celebrate the reopening of downtown Portland are scheduled from Friday, July 23, through Sunday, July 25.
They include the Saturday grand opening of displaced food carts and a sing-along with Pink Martini at Pioneer Square.
Other events include a re-creation of the cult movie "Princess Bride," a fashion show at the Portland Art Museum, and concerts from a variety of BIPOC and LGBTQIA artists along Waterfront Park, Pride Plaza and additional locations.
"After over a year of hibernation, our central city is ready to reopen. The city of Portland invites you to come back to the heart of Portland, where we can't wait to see your smiling faces!" said the announcement on the Here for Portland website.
The sing-along with Pink Martini is made possible through a collaboration between Pioneer Courthouse Square, the city of Portland, and the Portland Action Tables, with support from Downtown Development Group, Melvin Mark Companies and TMT Development.
