Police respond to fatal Thursday crash, earlier injury shooting
Police responded to a fatal hit and run crash in Southeast Portland and a downtown shooting that injured two people early Tuesday.
The names of the victims were not immediately released and no one was arrested.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard near Holgate shortly before 10 a.m. on Sept. 2.
The suspect left the scene on foot and is described as a shirtless man with long hair in a bun on the top of his head. Police searched the neighborhood but did not immediately find him.
Anyone who sees a man matching this description, especially if they are attempting to hide or are acting suspicious, is urged to call 911.
Southeast McLoughlin Boulevard was closed in both directions between Powell Boulevard and 17th Avenue as authorities investigate. The closure was expected to last for several hours. The Oregon Department of Transportation responded to the scene to assist with traffic control.
Before that, just before 2 a.m., police respond to reports of shots fired near Southwest Second Avenue and Ash Street. When officers reached the scene, they found two victims with gunshot wounds.
After officers rendered first aid, both victims were transported to a local hospital. Both are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
