Hillsboro police seek gas station bandit who fired handgun
Police are looking for a suspect who they say fired a handgun during an armed robbery at a gas station in Hillsboro on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 10.
No one was injured during the incident, which occurred about 1:30 p.m. Sunday inside the store of the Chevron gas station at 7499 N.E. Imbrie Drive, according to a statement made a few hours later from the Hillsboro Police Department.
The suspect drove to the gas station, put gas in his car and then went inside the store, committing the robbery with a gun before leaving in his vehicle, police said.
He fired at least one round from the gun, according to police.
The suspect was described as a Black male in his mid-20s or 30s wearing grey pants, a green T-shirt and a red sweatshirt at the time of the robbery, police said.
His vehicle was described as a black 2013 Nissan Rogue with a Mississippi license plate marked PRG1454.
Police are directing the public not to contact the suspect, who is considered armed and dangerous.
On Monday morning, Oct. 11, Sgt. Clint Chrz, spokesperson for Hillsboro police, said the department has received several tips from the community, and police are working on leads.
