UPDATE: The male suspect fired at Portland officers Sunday night before being arrested.

CONTRIBUTED PHOTO - Mariela Gonzalez RochaPolice have identified the woman who was found dead after shots were fired during a police standoff Sunday night in Southeast Portland.

The victim has been identified as Mariela Gonzalez Rocha, 29, of Portland. No one else was injured.

The suspect is identified as Davonte A. Donahue, 29. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center after being discharged from a local hospital. He has been charged with: murder in the first degree (domestic violence), felon in possession of a firearm (domestic violence), attempt murder in the first degree (five counts), and a Multnomah County warrant.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, around 3:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, East Precinct officers responded to an apartment on Southeast 171st Avenue after they received a call from a woman saying she was being held hostage.

Several neighbors also called reporting they heard gunshots in the area before officials arrived.

Police said that when officers arrived at the apartment, a suspect shot at them through the door.

The Special Emergency Response Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team assisted the officers on the welfare check. They were unsuccessful in contacting anyone inside after making several attempts over the phone and by loudly hailing the suspect by use of Long Range Acoustic Device.

The suspect inside began shooting toward officers after SERT broke the apartment windows and after a chemical agent was deployed into the apartment. At least 30 rounds were fired through the windows and doors. Police did not fire back and continued requesting the suspect surrender.

Authorities broke through the barricaded door and entered the residence with a robot. According to officials, police saw a male suspect crawling on his hands and knees inside before he locked himself in another room.

Shortly after 1 a.m. on Monday, SERT entered the room and arrested the man.

Police said they found a woman inside the apartment deceased. Her cause and manner of death will be determined by the Oregon State Medical Examiner.

The area was blocked off for the investigation. Anyone with any information related to this incident is asked to please contact Det.
