One dead, one hurt in hit and run crashes
Portland police are investigating two recent hit and run crashes, including a fatality. The names of the victims were not immediately released.
The most recent investigation began at 1:05 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, when North Precinct officers were dispatched to the 4400 Block of Northeast 122nd Avenue on the report of fifteen people fighting with knifes. Officers arrived and found a man with life-threatening injuries consistent with those of being hit by a vehicle.
Medical personnel responded and quickly transported the subject to a local hospital. The Portland Police Bureau's Major Crash Team responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation. It determined this individuals' death to be the result of a hit and run.
The first investigation began at 12:04 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20, when East Precinct officers were dispatched on a welfare check near Southeast 122nd Avenue and Southeast Tibbitts Street. When officers arrived, they located a deceased male laying in the roadway.
Based on preliminary investigation, the Major Crash Team responded to investigate. It determined the cause of death to be a hit and run.
