The cause of the early Monday blaze has not been released, but a tent and some cloth was found on the balcony.

An overnight fire started at the Westover Dental Clinic in Northwest Portland early Monday, severely damaging the building.

No one was reported injured.

Portland Fire & Rescue responded to the report of a two story structure on fire at Northwest 23rd Street and Glisan Street at around 12:30 a.m., Nov. 29. When firefighters arrived, flames were showing through the roof.

Crews initially set up outside for defensive fire attack before moving to an offensive attack inside. They tried to get to the fire from the top, extinguishing the fire using tools and chainsaws.

The fire was under control after 45 minutes, officials said. The building is still standing but severely charred.

The cause was not immediately announced. According to the fire investigator, the fire started on the balcony where a tent and some cloth was found, however.
