One pedestrian killed, another injured in Northeast Portland
One pedestrian was killed and another hospitalized with critical injuries after being struck Tuesday afternoon by a vehicle in Northeast Portland.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, officers were dispatched to the intersection of Northeast Fremont Street and Northeast 44th Avenue at 5:59 p.m. on Dec. 21. When officers arrived, they found one of the pedestrians had died of their injuries. The second pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. The Major Crash Team responded to assume control of the investigation. Fremont was closed from 42nd to 45th avenues while the investigation was conducted.
