Oregon Health Authority director Patrick Allen hospitalized
Patrick Allen, director of the Oregon Health Authority, is recovering from injuries suffered in a serious fall that occurred Sunday morning.
He is currently undergoing evaluation for subsequent heart issues but is expected to be discharged to his Sherwood home soon, according to an Oregon Health Authority news release.
The agency emphasized that Allen does not have COVID-19.
Kris Kautz, deputy director of the Oregon Health Authority, will oversee operations at least through this week.
"Director Allen has helped Oregon get through the COVID-19 pandemic with among the lowest rates of hospitalizations and deaths in the nation," Oregon Gov. Kate Brown said in a statement. "I'm grateful for the difficult, life-saving contributions he's made to Oregon's pandemic response. He is in my thoughts and I wish him a very speedy recovery."
Pamplin Media Group has reached out to Allen, who is a former chair of the Sherwood School District's board of directors.
