The name of the victim was not immediately released. No one was arrested.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, around 2:17 a.m. Jan. 28, police received a call about a possible shooting near Northwest Second Avenue and Couch Street. When officers arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound.

Officers gave trauma first aid to the victim until medical personnel could take over. The man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

When police arrived at the scene, they say the suspect already had fled.

During the investigation, Second Avenue was closed between West Burnside and Davis streets. Couch Street also was closed betwee First and Third avenues.
