UPDATE: Portland police identify the female victim in the May 8 shooting in inner Southeast Portland.

COURTESY PHOTO - Ash SmithPortland police have identified the female victim in the May 8 killing on the Eastbank Esplanade in Southeast Portland.

The victim is Ash Smith, 31. Her family has been notifed.

The suspect, Wyatt Storm Belcher, 25, was indicted by a Multnomah County grand jury on one count of Murder in the Second Degree with a Firearm, and one count of Unlawful Use of a Weapon (Firearm).

According to the Portland Police Bureau, at 11:43 p.m. on May 8, officers from the Central Precinct were dispatched to a report of a shooting on the walkway along the east bank of the Willamette River at Southeast Salmon Street. When officers arrived, they found a female who was dead and detained a person as part of the investigation.
