Portland, Hillsboro police investigate Sunday shootings
Police in Portland and Hillsboro are investigating Sunday, May 22, shootings that killed one person and wounded another.
The names of the victims were not immediately released. No one has been arrested and no suspect information is available.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, around 2:40 p.m. on May 22, officers responded to a shooting in the 5800 block of Southeast 99th Avenue in the Lents neighborhood. When officers got there, they learned the male victim was taken by another person to a fire station. An ambulance then took the victim to the hospital, where he died a short time later.
That night, a man was rushed to a hospital after a shooting in Hillsboro. Police there said it happened just before 11:30 p.m. near East Main Street and Northeast Century Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found a man shot and suffering from non-life threatening injuries. He was taken a Portland area hospital.
Hillsboro police said the shooting was likely not random, and there is currently no risk to the public.
