Officials say library and other public facilities are available during the day as temperatures soar.

COURTESY PHOTO: KOIN 6 NEWS - Full-time cooling centers have not yet opened in the Portland region.No around-the-clock cooling centers have yet opened in the Portland metropolitan area despite temperatures expected to approach 100 degrees over the weekend.

As of Saturday afternoon, officials said overnight accommodations are not needed because temperatures are forecast to drop when the sun sets. Instead, they recommend those needing relief during the day should visit existing air-conditioned public buildings, like libraries.
