One dead, two wounded in Old Town drive-by shooting
At least one person has died and multiple people were injured after a reported drive-by shooting in Old Town on Friday night.
The names of the victims were not immediately released.
According to the Portland Police Bureau, at approximately 9:31 p.m. July 29, Central Precinct officers responded to a shooting near the 500 block of Northwest Couch Street. When they arrived, the officers found two victims hit by gunfire and rendered medical aid.
One of the victims, an adult male, was transported to an area hospital by ambulance but was later declared dead. A third victim arrived at an area hospital by private car with life-threatening injuries.
Detectives from the homicide detail responded to the scene to conduct an investigation.
Witness Nicholas Blake told KOIN 6 News the shots he heard were loud enough to drown out the music he was listening to.
"I was walking down and I had my music going and I audibly heard a rapid succession of shots," Blake said.
"People were scattering and screaming," he said. "There was chaos, people were dashing across the streets and it wasn't long after that the cops started showing up and taping everything off."
Police also responded to another reported shooting Friday night on Southast 121st Avenue and Holgate Boulevard.
