WES crews work through the night to stop leak adjacent to the Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center.

Clackamas Water Environment Services personnel responded Friday, Aug. 12, to a notice about a leaking sewer line in Mt. Scott Creek at Southeast 97th Avenue near Sunnybrook Boulevard.

WES crews worked through the night to stop the leak by 6 a.m. on Aug. 13 near Happy Valley city limits and the Kaiser Permanente Sunnyside Medical Center. WES personnel stabilized the area immediately around the leak and began cleaning up the area.COURTESY PHOTO: CCSO - Clackamas County sheriff's deputies and members of the Dive Rescue Team stand on the bank of Mt. Since the Mt. Scott Creek was affected downstream, WES officials advised the public to avoid contact with the waterway for 48 hours due to the possibility of bacterial contamination.

WES personnel placed signs informing area residents about the spill in the vicinity of the incident. The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has been notified.
