COURTESY PHOTO: KOIN 6 NEWS - The scene of the Monday evening shooting in North Portland.Police are investigating a fatal Monday evening shooting near Northgate Park in North Portland.

The name of the victim was not immediately released. No one was arrested and no suspect information was available.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, at 7:31 p.m. on Sept. 19, North Precent officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of North Geneva Avenue between North Fessenden Street and North Newark Street. When they arrived, the officers found evidence of gunfire and identified a crime scene but did not locate a victim.

Then, at 7:51 p.m., an area hospital called to report a person had arrived at the emergency room by private vehicle and had been shot. This person was later declared deceased.

Detectives from the Homicide Detail and criminalists from the Forensic Evidence Division responded to conduct an investigation.
