There have been 68 homicides so far this year, just one less as this time last year.

The shootings happened as homicides are running at the same level as the record set last year.

The names of the most recent victims were not immediately released. No one was arrested and no suspect information was available.

According to the Portland Police Bureau, a man was shot multiple times in Southeast Portland early Tuesday morning. Officers responded to Southeast Stark Street, between Southeast 157th and 160th avenues, after receiving reports of a shooting just after 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 27.

Officers began giving the victim emergency medical aid after they found him. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

A few hours before that, a late-night Monday shooting in Northeast Portland sent a man to the hospital. Officers responded 10 p.m. to Northeast Halsey Street near 40th Avenue.

After finding the victim, officers began giving him medical aid, with one officer applying a tourniquet. The man was then taken to a nearby hospital.

According to Portland police, violent crime hasn't improving since it spiked last year. There have been 68 homicides as so far this year, which comes after a record 90 homicides in 2021. There were 69 homicides at this time last year.
