King City Police Department to host two community events; King City women's golf scores; and more.

  • The King City Police Department will host two community events on Saturday, April 28. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be a prescription drug turn in event at City Hall. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., there will be a community paper shredding event in the KCCA parking lot. Participants in the paper shredding event are asked to bring non-perishable food donations.
  • Northwest Senior Theatre will present "Love is On the Air," a variety show featuring Broadway songs, dancing and comedy, this month. All shows will be at the Aplenrose Dairy Opera House, 6149 S.W. Shattuck Road, Portland. The shows run at 2 p.m. on May 16, 17, 18 and 19. Tickets are $5 at the door, cash or check only.
  • The King City Women's Golf Club kicked off its season on Wednesday, April 4. The top scores were: Flight A, Gross: Julie Michels, 38.  Net: Ellen Lee, 35.  Flight A, Gross: Jan Hall, 46.  Net: Linda Vanarsdale and Claudia Fredricks, 38 (tie).  Flight C, Gross: Cheryl Carrier, 57.  Net: Jackie Davison, 39.  No scores were posted for Flight D. 
  • The club welcomed new members Monalee Dellar, Donna Lelinski, Bev Dellar, Donna Samuels, Bev Terry and Marj Torok.
  • Several local church members will sponsor a National Day of Prayer event from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at the King City Clubhouse. All are welcome.

  • The Tigard Garden Club will hold its annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Bull Mountain Farmer's Market at Canterbury Square, 1500 S.W. Pacific Highway, Tigard.  Members will provide bargain-priced, healthy, generously sized plants including vegetables, herbs, flowers and garden specimens. The sale aids the club in supporting its ongoing charities, including an herb garden for Meals on Wheels, Caring Closet, and Tigard Good Neighbor Center.
  • The Tigard Farmers Market will open 26th season from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 6. The market has a new location in downtown Tigard, in front of the Tigard Taphouse and across from Tigard Liquor Store on Burnham Street.
