The first annual Mayor's Golf Tournament raised $2,000 for arts and recreation.

Held with the purpose of raising funds for arts and recreation, the tournament brought together local residents, business leaders and government officials for a day on the green. King City Mayor Ken Gibson was joined by the nearby mayors Denny Doyle of Beaverton, John Cook of Tigard, Jeff Gowing of Cottage Grove and Gery Schirado of Durham.

The tournament included 22 foursomes. The winning teams are as follows:

  • Men's first place (tie): Ransom, Thomas, Thomas and Jones; and Mauerman, Dalton, Patterson and Crawley. Second place: Wiley,  Hill, Lee and Barksdale.
  • Mixed and women's first place: Kerr, Paulsen, Homer and Homer. Second place: Marchant, Hall, Lee and Pallor. Third place: Hildahl, VanArsdale, VanArsdale and VanArsdal.
  • The King City Community Foundation facilitated a 50/50 raffle at the tournament. The winner was Ralph Coleman, and Mayor Gibson chose to use the city's half to support the Foundation. A total of about $2,000 was raised for the Foundation.

    "It was a very successful inaugural event," said Jaimie Fender, a King City City Council member and the founder and president of the Foundation. "We look forward to making it bigger and better next year."
