Tigard police believe Adolphus Newell III burglarized dozens of homes in the county from October to February.

COURTESY PHOTO: WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE - Adolphus Newell IIIA 24-year-old man pleaded guilty to felony burglary and firearm charges and was sentenced Monday, May 18, to four years in prison.

Adolphus Newell III was linked to dozens of cases, Tigard police said. He ultimately pleaded guilty last month to five counts of first-degree burglary and one count of felon in possession of a firearm in exchange for other charges being dropped. He agreed to pay restitution to his victims in an amount to be determined as part of the plea agreement.

Newell is still facing felon in possession of a firearm charges in neighboring Multnomah County.

Tigard police say Newell is the suspect in dozens of residential burglaries throughout Washington County that took place between October 2019 and this February. Much of the property he stole was jewelry and firearms, police said.

Newell was sentenced to 50 months in prison. He has been in the Washington County Jail since Feb. 11 and will receive credit for time served.
