After skipping Music on the Green last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it's back.
This year's event will run July 21, July 28 and Aug. 4 at Stella Olsen Park.
"I think that community and staff were thrilled to be able to offer live music to the community again," Kristen Switzer, Sherwood manager pro tem, said recently. "People are so anxious and excited to get outside and spend some time with their neighbors again in a safe environment."
This year's event, sponsored by the city of Sherwood and Sherwood Dental Care, will adhere to any COVID-19 guidance and protocol that's in place at that time. All shows begin at 6:30 p.m.
The event kicks off with a taste of the blues from Lisa Mann & Her Really Good Band on July 21.
They will be followed on July 28 by Big Bad Beat, which plays soul, funk and pop dance hits. The final band will be the Red Light Romeos, a yacht rock (adult-oriented soft rock rooted in the 1970s) band on Aug. 4.
Concert-goers are welcome to bring a lawn chair, blanket and picnic.
Following Music on the Green, the city will host two free Movies in the Park nights, set for Friday, Aug. 13, and Friday, Aug. 27. The movies, also set for Stella Olsen Park, include "The Croods 2: A New Age" and "Raya and the Last Dragon," respectively. They will begin between 8 and 8:30 p.m.
The movies are sponsored by the city of Sherwood and Senestraro Family Orthodontics.
