HAPPY BIRTHDAY AND CONGRATULATIONS: Dick Hiller had two birdies and celebrated his 89th birthday on the same day. Way to go.

JUNE 28 CHAPMAN: Due to mistreatment by the weather, with temps that could almost melt a golf ball, the Chapman was postponed until July 12. The results missed press time and will be reported next month.

SLANG IS PART OF THE GAME: To some, golf terms are like a foreign language. Here are a few translations that may help: Barkie: A bet won by a golfer who makes par on a hole after his golf ball hit a tree. Buzzard: A double bogey. Fizzo: When you are still out after your first putt. A Tolstoy: A putt that's hard to read. Chicken Stick: A play-it-safe club. Wall Street: The bailout area on a hole, i.e., the drop area on #9. U.S.G.A.: What you say to a buddy who is reloading. It stand for "ugly shot, go again.
