Portland Auto Show updates schedule
The 2022 Portland International Auto Show has released several updates to the upcoming event. They include family-friendly activities in addition to the automotive displays.
The show is the largest annual display of new vehicles in the Pacific Northwest with hundreds of cars, trucks, SUVs and motorcycles from dozens of manufacturers. It will from from Feb. 24 to 27 at the Oregon Convention Center. The show was postponed last year because of the pandemic, so the 2022 event features two year's worth of new vehicles.
Newly confirmed attractions include:
Ford and Toyota will offer outdoor Ride & Drive opportunities on all four days of the show starting at 10 a.m. and running through 5:30 p.m. each day. Volkswagen will offer indoor test drives of its ID.4 electric SUV from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Masks are required in order to participate in any test drives, whether they occur inside the exhibit hall or outdoors.
New car and other giveaways
The Metro Portland New Car Dealers Association will be giving away a new 2021 Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid valued at $39,893 at the end of the show. Attendees can enter to win at the Pamplin Media Group booth where the compact crossover is on display from 10 a.m, to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, or 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The final drawing for the giveaway will happen at 5 p.m. Sunday.
Show-goers can visit Don Francisco's "Coffee Time" exhibit at the entrance to Electric Avenue where they will be greeted by a product specialist with a complimentary sample of the amazing Don Francisco's Coffee. Sample packets will be given away while supplies last. Everyone will have the opportunity to enter for a chance to win one of several packages including a grand prize of "Coffee for a Year."
Visitors to the Ally Down Payment Assistant Lounge will receive a $250 down payment voucher for their next vehicle purchase. There is also an area for resting and games such as corn hole, Jenga and Connect Four to play.
Kid's Zone is back
TheKid's Zone offers activities while adults are taking in the show. This year's attractions include 3-hole Mini Golf, Whack a Mole, and Archery Hover Ball from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and until 7 p.m. Sunday. There will also be caricature drawings and balloon artists from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
Visit The Garage
Several of Portland's best aftermarket shops will be working on vehicles throughout the show in The Garage on the main floor. Projects include modifying a Toyota Tacoma, Ford Transit Connect, Polaris side-by-side, and a Toyota 4Runner. Visitors can see the work progressing Thursday through Saturday, and see the finished projects on Sunday.
As part of The Garage, EC Electric will offer the Tailgate Lounge. Buoy Beer Co. will be handing out beer samples and selling full beers. The lounge will also feature big screens showing EC Electric's latest projects. Buoy Beer Sampling will be available Thursday from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Subaru Adopt-a-Pet event
Subaru will host a pet adoption corral throughout the show, in partnership with Homeward Bound Humane Society and Indigo Rescue. It will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Shelter donations will also be accepted. The event is located at the Subaru display on the main show floor.
2022 Portland International Auto Show facts
The auto show will be run from Thursday, Feb. 24 through Sunday, Feb. 27. It opens each morning at 10 a.m. and runs through 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and until 7 p.m. on Sunday. The show is located at the Oregon Convention Center, 777 N.E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd in Portland.
Admission to the show is $15 for adults (age 12+), with Senior (age 65+) and military tickets available for $12. Children ages 7-12 are $8 or free on Sunday, and the show is always free for kids 6 and under. A family four-pack (two adults, two children) costs $40. A four-pack of adult tickets costs $50. COVID safety protocols in effect
Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours for everyone age 5 and over is required to enter the show. While indoors masks are mandatory and are to be worn at all times except when eating or drinking in a designated area.
