Southeast robber caught after a robbery for beer
On Sunday, May 26, at 13 minutes past noon, East Precinct officers responded to a robbery at a Shell Gas Station at 2450 S.E. 122nd Avenue.
Arriving officers learned that a suspect had entered the gas station's convenience store and implied he possessed a knife. While the suspect was inside he reportedly threw an item and struck an employee. The employee suffered minor injuries. The suspect then left the store, after taking...well, a container of beer.
Officers performed a neighborhood search with the assistance of a K-9 team. As officers searched the 2200 block of S.E. 124th Avenue, they found the suspect in the back yard of a home. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. There is no information as to whether he was enjoying a beer at the time.
The injured employee was transported to an area hospital by ambulance with a non-life-threatening injury.
The suspect arrested was identified as 29-year-old Earnest L. .J. Brown. Brown was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree, and Theft in the Second Degree.
