Police arrest two teens for shots fired in Montavilla
On the first day of summer, Thursday, June 21, at 8:05 p.m., East Precinct and Gang Enforcement Team officers responded to the area near S.E. 88th Avenue and Lincoln Street, after receiving reports of gunfire nearby.
Officers arrived and spoke with several witnesses. While there, they located evidence of gunfire, and got descriptions of the suspects. The descriptions were broadcast to officers searching the neighborhood for suspects and victims, and one officer found a group near S.E. 88th Avenue and Division Street that matched the suspects' descriptions. As other officers arrived to contact the group, they found and seized two firearms, and arrested two juvenile males without incident.
One of the firearms was located in the possession of a suspect, and another gun was found on the ground near where one of the other suspects had been standing. They were the two who were put under arrest.
The two juveniles were transported to the Donald E. Long Juvenile Detention Home; officers notified their parents about the arrests.
There were no reports of injuries or property damage as a result of this shooting.
