Deadly shooting on SE 94th Avenue
In the late evening of Sunday, October 7, at 11:47 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the 4000 block of S.E. 94th Avenue after a number of calls to 9-1-1 reporting gunfire.
Officers came across an injured man lying in the street. Officers began first aid until emergency medical responders arrived. As they attemted to provide the man medical treatment, they determined that he was dead.
Officers searched the area around Raymond and S.E. 94th for anyone who might have been involved in the shooting, without success.
Members of the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail responded to assume the investigation. Criminalists with the Police Bureau's Forensics Evidence Divisionare also assisting with the investigation. Members of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office and the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office arrived in the Lents neighborhood as well.
The victim located by officers was subsequently identified as 21-year-old Izryl T. Johnson of Portland. A member of the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office determined Izryl Johnson died as a result of homicidal violence.
Based upon preliminary information the police believe there is no danger to the community in relation to this investigation.
