Police investigating apparent Sellwood road rage shooting
On the evening of Thursday, May 2, at 10:30 p.m., Central Precinct officers responded to the 1800 block of S.E. Umatilla Street in Sellwood, where a 9-1-1 caller reported a man had been shot.
When officers arrived, they found a male adult who reportedly had been shot in the hip by a driver who then fled. He was transported to an area hospital with an injury from which he is expected to recover.
Members with the Tactical Operation Division's Gun Violence Reduction Team responded to assist in the investigation. Officers suggest that there appeared to be a road rage element involved.
S.E. Umatilla Street from 17th to 18th Avenues was closed for over two hours while the scene was searched and evidence was preserved.
