A side-impact crash on Holgate Boulevard injured one of the drivers, and snarled traffic

DAVID F. ASHTON - Both the Jeep Cherokee, which apparently T-boned the Subaru Outback, were un-drivable after the crash, and both were towed away.A two-vehicle T-bone crash stopped traffic on S.E. Holgate Boulevard, and on 26th Avenue south of Holgate, in the Reed neighborhood – in the showery noon hour of Thursday, October 14.

Four Central Precinct police cruisers were dispatched at 12:30 p.m., and as they arrived they found a Jeep Cherokee SUV had smashed into the side of a Subaru Outback – an impact that deployed airbags in both vehicles, and blocked traffic on the busy boulevard.

"Other than those involved, we were not able to locate any witnesses to the crash," an officer at the scene told THE BEE. "We surmise that one vehicle was traveling westbound, and turned into the path of another oncoming westbound vehicle, causing a T-Bone accident."

The driver of one of the SUVs was unsure of their medical condition following the collision; that person was taken to a local hospital by ambulance, as a "precautionary trauma entry" to the emergency medical system.

No one was cited in this crash. "As we say, sometimes they're simply an accident," observed the officer.
