It appears the police may by now be able to find their way to this frequent shooting venue in their sleep!

DAVID F. ASHTON - Once again, in the parking lot of this night club in the Mt. Scott-Arleta neighborhood, people with guns shot lots of bullets - at least forty nine of them! - on February 12th. Once again, a gunfight erupted outside Shimmers Gentleman's Club, at 8000 S.E. Foster Road, just before closing time early Saturday morning, February 12.

A man was shot to death at the same place on December 19.

"This may not affect our other Mt. Scott-Arleta neighbors, but this club seems to be a magnet for gunfights," remarked a resident of S.E. Harold Street just south of the lounge's parking lot, who asked to not to be identified. "Shootings, gunfights, murders – I don't know why the licensing officials allow this bar to stay open!"

Nevertheless, that lounge still operates as a state-licensed establishment.

According to a Portland Police Bureau sergeant, East Precinct officers were dispatched to a "Shots Fired" call at the location at 1:55 a.m. that morning.

What they found astonished even some of the seasoned responding officers: FORTY NINE spent bullet shell casings, and six vehicles peppered with bullet holes. Apparently, there were no injuries as a result of all this.

After district officers secured the area, members of the Portland Police "Enhanced Community Safety Team" arrived to investigate the shooting.
