Someone filled with hate towards others vandalized Cleveland High and its sports field over a mid-March weekend

COURTESY OF CLEVELAND HIGH - The historic high school at Powell and S.E. 26th was vandalized over a weekend in mid-March, but was cleaned up by Monday morning when classes resumed. The vandal responsible is still being sought. Sometime on the weekend of March 12-13, Cleveland High School buildings on S.E. Powell Boulevard were vandalized with what were described as "hate messages" – a swastika was reported as being one of the graffiti – which also appeared at the CHS sports field, detached from the main campus and located a short distance away to the east. Reportedly, the Principal of the school – Jo Ann Wadkins – sent a letter to the staff, students, and the parents of CHS students, relating the damage.

The vandalism was also documented and reported to the police, as city policies require; and the documentation will permit the prosecution the guilty party or parties for felony vandalism when they are identified.

Then all the graffiti was removed – in time for it to be mostly gone by the time school reconvened on Monday morning, March 14. Anyone with a tip as to who might have caused the extensive damage to the Cleveland High campus is urged to report it to the Portland Police Bureau's Central Precinct, or to the Central Precinct NRT Officer.
