A surprising number of criminal stories this month, in Southeast -- Here's a Woodstock bank robbery in May

DAVID F. ASHTON - Returning to his patrol cruiser, an East Precinct officer retrieves investigation equipment after the Woodstock KeyBank Branch reported an armed robbery. The KeyBank Woodstock Branch, at 4600 S.E. Woodstock Boulevard, abruptly closed for the day early, on Monday, May 16, after a robbery. Three East Precinct officers responded at 2:38 p.m.

One officer went into the KeyBank branch to investigate; the other two performed a grid search, driving through Woodstock neighborhood streets to the west of the bank, and north of Woodstock Boulevard.

"I confirm the bank was robbed," Portland Police spokesperson Lieutenant Nathan Sheppard told THE BEE. "Officers searched for the suspect, but he was gone before police were called. The suspect is described as a clean-shaven white male in his 30s, and estimated to be 5'5" to 5'7" tall."

Information found in the PPB investigation is turned over to the FBI, the law enforcement agency that investigates and prosecutes bank robberies as federal crimes, since bank deposits are federally-insured.
