Southeast residents with rose gardens urged to enter
The Royal Rosarians announce the opening of their 80th annual "Rose Garden Contest".
The contest is open to everyone in Southeast Portland -- and indeed, all rose growers within 20 miles of the Pioneer Courthouse Square in Portland, as verified by electronic mapping systems. No garden club membership is required to enter the contest; all rose growers within the contest area are eligible to apply. The contest includes opportunities to apply in divisions that include simple informal rose plantings, miniature rose plantings, commercial rose gardens and plantings, and formal rose gardens. Some competition divisions require as few as 12 roses; others require 25 or more.
