Once again, the big trucks gathered for a day at an auto repair shop in the Reed neighborhood

DAVID F. ASHTON - In a Security Signs lift truck cab, Katie Burns helps her little driver, Logan DiTullo, get a feel for what its like behind the wheel. With an aim to promoting their ecologically-friendly automotive repair shop in the Reed neighborhood, "Green Drop Garage" again hosted "Big Truck Day" on their lot north of Woodstock Boulevard at 5321 S.E. 28th Avenue.

"We do it mainly for kids; youngsters get to come climb on trucks, get in the driver's seat, and feel what would be like to be a service worker," explained the shop's general manager, Mike McMillen.

Wide-eyed tykes eagerly dragged their parents up the street to get a close look at a CalPortland in-transit concrete mixer truck, a Security Signs boom lift truck, and a Portland Police Bureau tactical SERT rig.

"If they can clear their calls, we're hoping Portland Fire & Rescue Westmoreland Station 20's Engine Company can come by again this year," McMillen said.

"Parents tell is this is all about their children, but it looks as if the adults are having as much fun as the kids," McMillen grinned.
