Natural foods are a valid choice for dogs and cats, too -- and there's a Southeast business to provide them

COURTESY OF SASHA KRAFFT - These two dogs want their Better Barkery cake. And one of them wants it NOW. Creston-Kenilworth has a bakery for pets – but it has no storefront. It's only open online – and it's called "The Better Barkery". It's only been available for a few months, having been created in mid-2020 by professional chef Sasha Krafft. Sasha says the Barkery prepares small fresh batches of pet treats that are all free of corn, soy, gluten, preservatives, and artificial colors and flavors.

"I have had two passions my whole life," says Krafft, "Animals, and baking. I made my first dog treats at age nine in my 'Easy-Bake Oven'. After many years as a professional baker for humans, I decided to use my expertise to develop the highest-quality pet treats for my dogs. Cats like them, too. These are all taste-tested by our resident 'sous-chef', Marty the rescue dog."

"We use only the highest quality all-natural human-grade ingredients that are organic whenever possible. We believe in baking with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients to maintain the purity of our finished products.

"Currently, our popular flavors include Pupkin Pie, Cheddar Bacon Biscuits, Gingerbark, and Banana Barkscotti. We even have a few treats that are fully hypoallergenic for pups who have allergies, food sensitivities, and other medical issues. We also do a line of dog 'Pawtisserie', which has a lot of different treats, like doggie macarons and peanut butter cups." The online business can be reached anytime at –
