Woodstock Farmers Market opens for 11th season
Shoppers were ready, on Sunday morning, June 6, as the Woodstock Farmers Market opened their 11th season on the parking lot behind the Key Bank at 46th Avenue and Woodstock Boulevard.
"I'm so happy they're open again; I've missed coming here on Sundays so much!" remarked Woodstock neighbor, and eager shopper, Jackie Hallset.
And she wasn't alone in those feelings. Even though rain clouds threatened overhead, it didn't take long, after the "opening bell" was rung, for shoppers to fill up the marketplace.
"It is super exciting to be here," exclaimed the new Market Manager, Lucinda Klicker. "This year, we're looking forward to greeting new vendors, as well as seeing again those returning to the market. And we're also looking forward to connecting with the community in a safer way."
The market began its season, that day, with a full roster of 36 vendors; each week, expect to see about 27 of them present at any given market. Even though it was early in the season, fresh vegetable selections abounded; and there was a good variety of prepared and ready-to-eat food available for sale as well.
"It's great being able to provide a space for farmers and local businesses to connect with their community, and sell their products and crops they're proud of; and, at the same time, to provide a space where everyone can support each other," Klicker remarked.
