The 'Bigfoot' statue has long set them apart -- and it has moved, along with the store, to a new spot nearby

RITA A. LEONARD - Foot Traffic store owner Sean Rivers, shown with the Sellwood stores mascot - Miles the Bigfoot. The store has just moved across the street. In June, Sellwood's "Foot Traffic" business moved across the street from its original nine-year home at 7718 S.E. 13th Avenue, over to 1260 S.E. Lambert Street. Owner Sean Rivers tells THE BEE, "Actually, our new spot is a bit smaller, but we have more visibility here, and we are opening an interior coffee shop for our clients. We also have a nice courtyard, here, where we can display our 10-foot-tall Bigfoot statue, 'Miles', as a public art installation!"

"Miles", created by a Eugene woodcarver, has been displayed inside the 13th Avenue location since the day they opened – to symbolize the business's footwear collection of running, walking, and comfort shoes, and accessories for runners. The store's motto is "Go By Foot".

"We do July running camps for kids in Sellwood Park," Rivers continues. "We encourage outdoor exercise to take advantage of Portland's weather and great vistas. There are other branches of Foot Traffic in Downtown Portland, Northeast Portland, and West Portland, as well as in Vancouver, Washington. Here in Sellwood, we offer additional services, such as complimentary video gait analysis, training programs, and more.

"You can shop in our store, or online – www.foottraffic.us" says Rivers. "Our phone number is 971/271-7264, and we're open every day. Store hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 10 to 6 on Saturdays, and 11 to 5 on Sundays." The striking statue of Miles has already gotten lots of attention from passers-by, and Rivers hopes to hold a monthly photo contest to celebrate their Sasquatch – who, indeed, does have very big feet. "He's the original 'trail runner'," says Sean with a smile.
