JULY 3

Historic Sellwood Walking Tour today: Neighborhood historian and BEE writer Eileen Fitzsimons will be leading two walking tours of Sellwood this summer. The first one – highlighting the early history of Sellwood – is today, Saturday, July 3, 10 a.m. until noon. Due to COVID-19 precautions, groups will be smaller than in the past. Eileen will share information about the early history of the neighborhood as reflected in its street patterns and buildings. The tour is under the aegis of The Architectural Heritage Center, which has dozens of other walking tours all over the city, including in the Garthwick community. JULY 10

First free SMILE Summer Music Concert: This evening, Lloyd Jones & Mark Shark are the entertainers as the Sellwood Moreland Improvement League neighborhood association kicks off its weekly summer concert series, which runs through the end of August. Tonight's show is 6:30-8:15 p.m. in the parking lot on the south side of the Windermere Building at S.E. 16th & Rural, a block south of Bybee in Westmoreland. Free. Bring a picnic supper or buy something there. Open to all.

JULY 17

Second Historic Sellwood Walking Tour today: Once again, neighborhood historian and BEE writer Eileen Fitzsimons sets out to complete the second of her two walking tours of Sellwood this morning from 10 a.m. to noon. This one covers the 20th Century development of Sellwood. The size of the group she leads will be limited, so registration is necessary – it's being held by the Architectural Heritage Center of Portland. SMILE free Summer Music Concert: Tonight, the performance features Silver Lake 66, on the parking lot of the Windermere Buildiong at S.E. 16th and Rural, a block south of Bybee, in Westmoreland. Free and open to all. 6:30-8:15 p.m. Bring a picnic supoper, or buy food there.

JULY 24

SMILE free Summer Music Concert: Terry Robb & Lauren Sheehan are performing this evening, 6:30-8:15 p.m., on the parking lot of the Windermere Building, S.E. 16th and Rural in Westmoreland. Bring the family. It's free. Bring a picnic supper, or buy food there.

AUGUST 3

SMILE free Summer Music Concert: Featured are Marv and Rindy Ross (of Seafood Mama, and Quarterflash), free to all, 6:30-8:15 p.m. at Sellwood Community House – S.E. 15th and Spokane Street in Sellwood. Bring a picnic supper, or buy food there.

AUGUST 7

SMILE free Summer Music Concert: Tonight's performance is by the Annette Lowman Trio. 6:30-8:15 p.m.; free and open to all on the parking lot of Moreland Presbyterian Church, on S.E. 19th Avenue, a few steps south of Bybee Boulevard. Bring a picnic supper, or buy food there.
