In cruising the business distrricts of Inner Southeast, correspondent Rita finds a new salon has opened

RITA A. LEONARD - Crescendo Salons owner, Paul Gonzales, with a client in the chair. A highly-trained trio of hair stylists, operating under the name Crescendo Salon, have moved into the space adjacent to another local business, Ava Bella Women's Boutique at 8707 S.E. 17th Avenue in Sellwood, They share a small parking lot in the space, which formerly housed a different hair salon.

Crescendo Salon owner Paul Gonzales tells THE BEE, "My co-workers, Cindy Barber and Kevin Keith, and I have each been doing hair styling for over 25 years.

"We have three chairs here," continues Gonzales, "And we offer haircuts, trims, coloring with highlights & low lights, chemical straightening and smoothing, wash and curl services. We also offer bridal services, hair extension services, and hair treatment for both men and women."

Gonzales himself was trained in Beverly Hills, with advanced training at Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica. Currently he is an "educator" for several hair color companies, including Dikson Hair Color, an Italian hair color firm.

Gonzales is rated by his clients as "knowledgeable and an amusing conversationalist". Many think of him as a fun and thoughtful listener. "He makes me feel beautiful," says one. "He's an artist, comedian, and hair magician," says another.
