Daughters of the American Revolution open exhibit Nov. 12 to honor those who served in Southeast Asia

The women in Southwest Portland directly descended from those who fought and supported the cause in America's first war, will mount an historical display honoring those who fought in the Vietnam War at Multnomah Art Center in conjunction with Veterans Day,

Members of the Wahkeena Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) will open the display at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at the MAC building, 7688 S.W. Capitol Highwy. The display case is located in the east hall of the building.

Wahkeena is one of four DAR chapters in Portland and the only one in Southwest Portland. Nationwide, there are 3,000 chapters and 180,000 members. To qualify for membership a woman must be able to prove she is a direct lineal descendent of someone who fought with or supported American troops in the War of Independence.
